In the case of eye makeup, the most important product is, undoubtedly, mascara. Mascaras are meant to beautify your eyelashes by featuring them with length, thickness, and a dark appearance. Classification of mascara
Mascaras are broadly classified as water-soluble mascara and waterproof or resistant mascara. But our focus is to classify the mascara depending on its formula and applicability to the user.
- Lengthening mascara
Lengthening mascara is best to give you the appearance of longer lashes. They are achieved by the more use of mascara and it is applied topically on the tips of your lashes. But this mascara will not give you the thickness effect. If you have short and sparse eyelashes this type of mascara is an excellent option for you. Mechanism of mascara is very simple, here fibers get bound to the tips of the eyelashes and give the feeling of longer appearance. - Volumizing mascara
Volumizing mascara is formulated with waxes and silicone polymers. It gives the feeling of fuller and thicker appearance of eyelashes. This mascara is the right choice for thin or sparse eyelashes. They work more on the shape and color of natural lashes instead of length. - Curling mascara
Curling mascara improves the curl of the lashes. They are formulated with little thicker ingredients than other types of mascaras. This thickness is useful to hold the curls. - Lash-defining mascara
Another type of mascara formulation comes with lash defining mascara, an all in one product that offers both volume and thickness. It is available in water resistant composition. It uniformly spreads and it defines eyelashes separately with curls giving more volume and thickness. It contains special pigments and polymers to define lashes entirely. They give a natural look to the eyelashes and satisfy all other purposes of mascara. - Non-clumping mascara
These are the recent types of mascara in the market, they have glycerin and silk extracts, which give the neat finishing to the lashes. Longer wand applicators are used for this mascara.
Steps to apply mascara in a perfect way
- Be sure that your eyelashes are dry before applying mascara.
- Use a small and clear table mirror or use your dresser mirror.
- Curl the upper lash line first using a curler. Be cautious about not crimping your delicate skin surrounding lash line.
- Now press the curler at upper lash base and hold it for three seconds. Repeat the same step in the middle and on the tips of the eyelash.
- After curling, to coat with mascara you should apply on upper lash line and use wriggling motion. You can start coating from the tips toward the mid. Repeat the same procedures for the lower lash line.
- Be sure that the application is clump free; you can give a second coat for a higher volume.
